Patti Bess
Patti Bess was born in Texas, raised in Venezuela, and currently resides in the artistic community of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. With no formal training beyond a love for Renaissance Art, Patti began painting at the age of 45 in California. She is unusual because she has a truly remarkable talent: the ability to exactly replicate another work. She just does it visually, without projections or other mechanical assistance. It is a "savant" gift. She makes a happy living as a (legitimate) forger, reproducing Old Master paintings into exact replicas, right down to the old paint craculature – although she will sometimes insert playful variations in them too. Patti has done commissioned protraits, and large architectural installation projects in private residences – domed ceilings, home theaters – in Los Angeles, Colorado, and New Mexico. She is also now completing a new series of her own, wonderfully original, artworks, for an upcoming exhibition which we will preview to our collectors.
