Art Tours in Mexico City

Castillo de ChapultepecThis personalized Art Tour offers you a unique opportunity to visit artists in their studios and to buy direct through their agent, Anita Middleton, as well as to see some of the finest museums of contemporary art in the world. Catalogues of the artists' work are available to help you decide upon your own individualized itinerary according to your interests. To comfortably see four to six artists studios and visit the musuems we need three to four days. I recommend taking the tour during a long weekend when there is less traffic and better rates at the hotels.

What we'll see and do:

Mueseo de Arte ModernoMexico City is divided into district neighborhoods called "Colonias." We will stay in the beautiful Colonia Polanco, near or in Chapultepec Park, with its centuries-old forest surrounding the castle that crowns the summit. Colonia Polanco is renowned for its many excellent international restaurants, shopping and sights. We will visit the chic new area of Colonia Condesa, where many of the artists have their studios, and delightful galleries and restaurants abound. On this day we'll need good walking shoes as Colonia Condesa is a great place to stroll. The museums we can visit are the Museo de Arte Moderno and Tamayo Museum in Chapultepec Park, Belles Artes in the fascinating Historical Center, Museo Dolores Olmedo in the village Xochimilco, and The Frida Kahlo Museum in the picturesque Colonia Coyoacan.

How we'll go:

Angel de la Independencia

We will be driven by Moises,
an experienced Mexico City driver
who has worked with me personally
and knows the quickest and safest
way to arrive at our destinations.

Where we'll stay:

After many visits and staying at different hotels in the city, I've selected three options.

  • 1.- The Four Seasons on the Paseo de la Reforma, with its elegant atmosphere of a grand Mexican hacienda.
  • 2.- Fiesta Americana Grand Chapultepec in the middle of the park, nested between the Museo de Arte Moderno and Tamayo Museum, a new Art Deco hotel with incredible views from the rooms of the palace.
  • 3.- Casa de la Condesa Located in a peaceful residential area close to the cultural corridor of Colonia Roma, you experience a typical Mexican boutique hotel with singular service in a very safe and relaxed district of Mexico City.
